2031 hustle - Rev22 fall event recaps

CHILL Updated

When: October 19, 2024
Where: Devens, MA

Event Summary
The girls’ lacrosse club season kicked off with New England’s top fall championship tournament, The New England Chill.

What a weekend to kick off REV22, the 22nd year of Revolution Lacrosse, at REVlax’s own event, The New England Chill.  The weather was perfect, the sun was out, foliage was at peak, the DJ tent was bumping, and the dance offs were legit!

Traditionally, The New England Chill is REVlax’s 2nd tournament of the fall, but with the Westside Tournament canceling this year, this was opening weekend!   Nine REVlax teams had winning records with three teams going undefeated and TWO teams winning the Championships!

Congratulations to the REV25 Team for winning the Championship and putting in a whooping 55 goals while only giving up nine goals on the day!

Congratulations also to the REV26 Black team for winning their Championship after battling a very strong Yellow Jackets team!
Though both undefeated, 27Black and 31Heart each missed the playoffs to the other undefeated team in their respective pools seeing they had one more allowed goal! What are the odds!?!
Something fun that the REVlax players loved was that after each game, a REVlaxer  was awarded the Game Pumpkin for outstanding play by the team and coaching staff.  And at the end of each day, the All-Tournament Pumpkin was awarded!

Team Summary
What an incredible way to kick off the 2031 Hustle team’s first official event! Several players made their tournament debut with REVlax, and we celebrated as many scored their very first REVlax goal(s)! The New England Chill tournament not only showcased the strong foundation laid by the 2031 Heart but also revealed the amazing potential this group possesses.

Throughout The Chill, the REVlaxers exhibited improvement on their fast-break pace, demonstrating their ability to push the ball up the field with full speed and confidence. Many players took a step out of their comfort zones and embraced new positions, showcasing their commitment to be the best they can be. Their hard work and determination to give it their all truly embody what it means to be a REVlaxer!

Players brought the Halloween spirit in tutus and creative outfits, with a special shoutout to our 2033 goalie, Blake, who won the costume contest with her awesome pumpkin-themed helmet!
The Ghost Games pushed every REVlax team one step closer to high school varsity readiness. Players took on new positions, learned to stay resilient in tough matchups, and improved with each game. With the sun shining down, the REVlax spirit was undeniable. Each player fueled their personal drive and dedication. Not only to their own progress but to their teammates, fighting with determination from whistle to whistle!

Team Summary
31Hustle team took a slow start in game one, but turned the pace into a lesson of growth and improvement. They were all in for the final two games of the day, working hard, learning quickly, and supporting each other at every turn. The REVlaxers focused on strengthening their team defense, practicing solid defensive positioning and learning when to drop in on the 8-meter. With every play, they grew more confident, working on knowing when to drop in on the 8-meter and pressuring out on the 12-meter when their player has the ball. The progress they made as a team was clear, and they left the field with a new level of confidence in their team defense and an amazing bond with one another.

Seeing your confidence shine when you had the ball in your stick was amazing, and it is clear you have the potential to be a major contributor out there. Georgia, or should we say Ground Ball Machine! You found a whole new love for defense at Ghost Games, and it showed. You were natural at matching up with attackers, and we loved seeing your willingness to learn and boost your defensive IQ. From keeping your heels on the 8-meter to picking off passes and moving the ball downfield in transition, you did it all. Keep up that hustle, we are fired up to see that defense flourish.
