2033/2034 - Rev22 fall event recaps

CHILL Updated

When: October 19, 2024
Where: Devens, MA

Event Summary
The girls’ lacrosse club season kicked off with New England’s top fall championship tournament, The New England Chill.

What a weekend to kick off REV22, the 22nd year of Revolution Lacrosse, at REVlax’s own event, The New England Chill.  The weather was perfect, the sun was out, foliage was at peak, the DJ tent was bumping, and the dance offs were legit!

Traditionally, The New England Chill is REVlax’s 2nd tournament of the fall, but with the Westside Tournament canceling this year, this was opening weekend!   Nine REVlax teams had winning records with three teams going undefeated and TWO teams winning the Championships!

Congratulations to the REV25 Team for winning the Championship and putting in a whooping 55 goals while only giving up nine goals on the day!

Congratulations also to the REV26 Black team for winning their Championship after battling a very strong Yellow Jackets team!
Though both undefeated, 27Black and 31Heart each missed the playoffs to the other undefeated team in their respective pools seeing they had one more allowed goal! What are the odds!?!
Something fun that the REVlax players loved was that after each game, a REVlaxer  was awarded the Game Pumpkin for outstanding play by the team and coaching staff.  And at the end of each day, the All-Tournament Pumpkin was awarded!

Team Summary
The New England Chill was an AWESOME first event for the 2033s and 2034s!  Leading up to the event, excitingly, the REVlax Operations team was able to add a second team to the schedule, and as such, REV Courage and REV Believe were born!  Our priority this fall is to get players as much time on the fields as possible, and by having two teams, everyone was able to maximize their field time.

The theme of the day was simple and consisted of one word: COMPETE!  The staff explained the notion of fighting to matter in every moment, and the importance of playing OUR game, no matter who the opponent is or what the score is.  In 22 years of REVlax, the reason our older teams are so successful is because they learn the foundation of competing, and this is the process that began at The New England Chill!

It was amazing to see the 2033s and 2034s step up to the plate!  They played SO HARD, never quitting and constantly working to make the technical adjustments that we were working on. Although this was the first tournament of the year for all of our newbies, you couldn’t tell! Throughout the day, every single player had at least one amazing moment. By the final games of the day, both teams had improved exponentially, seen top notch competition and started really flowing as a team.

We are beyond excited for the growth that began at The New England Chill!  There is so much greatness and potential in this group, and there is no doubt that they have a bright future ahead of them!

Shout outs/Pumpkin Winners
The Courage and Believe team had MANY pumpkin winners throughout the day!  There was actually a new pumpkin winner for EVERY half, which was decided by the former winner.  It was amazing to see 14 players win pumpkins throughout the day because of their effort, impact as a teammate and presence on the field The coolest part of the experience was watching these young players support each other and get so excited to give each other propsTalk about incredible teammates in the making! 😊

Ghost Games

When: October 27, 2024
Where: Farmington, CT

Event Summary
The REVlax teams hit the fields of Connecticut bringing fantastic halloween costumes, fierce competition, and lots of bonding between games. Players brought the Halloween spirit in tutus and creative outfits, with a special shoutout to our 2033 goalie, Blake, who won the costume contest with her awesome pumpkin-themed helmet!
The Ghost Games pushed every REVlax team one step closer to high school varsity readiness. Players took on new positions, learned to stay resilient in tough matchups, and improved with each game. REV2030 Hustle wrapped up the day with a strong 6-5 win over the formable Metro: Green 2030 team, showing just how far they have come.

With the sun shining down, the REVlax spirit was undeniable. Each player fueled their personal drive and dedication. Not only to their own progress but to their teammates, fighting with determination from whistle to whistle!

Team Summary

Courage Record (33s): 3-0
Believe Record (34s): 1-2

With all of the amazing momentum that began at The CHILL, we were SO excited to see what our 2033s and 2034s were going to bring to CT!

For this event, REVlax worked with the event to again, add a second team.  This time, Courage was comprised of 2033s and Believe was comprised of 2034s. Although a mixed team is so fun, we LOVE when players get the opportunity to play with their pure grad year. Starting in 5th or 6th grade, REVlax teams typically go from a mixed 7v7 format to pure grad years for 12v12.  Because of this transition, we welcome every opportunity for players to come together to begin the process of building the chemistry that will carry them for years.

The 2033s had an awesome day at Ghost Games!  They implemented every single lesson from The CHILL, really working as a unit and ultimately resulting in their undefeated record!  The middies won draws, attackers spread out and got open and defense executed marking up and crashing beautifully.  It was AWESOME to see them come together and find so much success!

Shifting to the 2034 team, we will NEVER forget their Ghost Games experience.  It was a lesson in showing up, no matter who the other team is.  It was also a lesson in some of the tricky ranking business that can occur at events. While the schedule promised that most of our opponents would be 2034 teams, this was not the case on site, and our 2034s played against 2033s for most of the day.  They had an incredible win to kick off the morning, and then were tested as they battled older, stronger players the rest of the day.  Regardless, we were SO proud of this group, as they literally never quit. It was so incredible to see, and there is no doubt that they will be stronger as a result of this experience.

Shout Outs/Queen of the Game Award
At Ghost Games, the REVlax Staff awarded standout play by naming “Queens.”

Veronia Maclay, 2034
Ronnie, aka, DEFENSE MACHINE!  You did an incredible job marking up on ball and stopping players from going to goal.  It was so amazing to see you become a mosquito and mark up so vigorously, that nobody was getting by you.  Your understanding of defensive concepts is beyond your years and we are FIRED UP for you. Keep it up!

Caroline Richards, 2033
Caroline, you’ve improved SO much since we met you!  You have not only grown into a standout player, but a reliable one. Your greatest strength is your consistency.  When you run full-speed, there is no stopping you, regardless of who we are playing.  We loved how you took every opportunity at Ghost Games and led your team to an undefeated day!  Feel proud!

Blake Fazzina, 2034
Blake, or should we say, pumpkin head?! 😊  Not only did you come to the event rocking your Pumpkin Helmet and winning the costume competition, but you played FIVE GAMES!  This is not an easy task, but is one of the reasons our goalies are so amazing.  They are always excited to play, and this is why you are going to follow in their footsteps.  You literally received feedback all day, and we loved seeing you implement the coaching in every game!  Stay passionate and keep striving for greatness. We believe in you!
